Hope Gala 2018: Award for the Coach with a Big Heart

Lothar Firlej (57), a professional Physical Education teacher was recently honoured with a trophy and 5,000 Euroes at the 10th Hope Gala night at Dresden theatre in Germany. Hope Gala, the most prestigious Charity event in East Germany recognised Mr. Lothar for his outstanding work in children rehabilitation in Kenya.

Lothar, who founded NGUVU Edu Sport e.V. seven years ago, has dedicated his life to changing the lives of poor street children in Juja - Gachororo in Kenya. He started the NGUVU-Streetfootball-League with around 1,000 Children. He assists homeless street children in retracing their families and reuniting them, feeding the street children, taking them to school, and does everything he can to save the children from drug abuse and exploitation.

Mr. Lothar was thankful to the event's organisers for considering him for the award and said that the prize money will go a long way in bringing hope to the children who would otherwise have had no chance in life.
